Travel by plane

Krakow has its own airport, named after the Pope, John Paul II.
For latest information on flights and connections please visit the website of the Krakow Airport.

The Krakow airport is located about 15 km from the city centre. You can reach the city centre by:

  • Quick railway line - the fastest way to reach the city centre (around 15 minutes).
    The fare is 9 PLN (2 €) (luggage: free of charge) and tickets can be purchased:
    • ticket machine in passenger terminal, level 0 (cash payment or payment with credit/debit card),
    • ticket machine at train station (cash payment or payment with credit/debit card),
    • train conductor on board (cash payment only).

The new Kraków Airport train station is located near the passenger terminal, at the rear of the multi-storey car park. The entrance to the train station is located on the first floor of the passenger terminal. The train leaves every 30 minutes, 07 and 47 minutes after each hour.

  • Alternatively you can use one of the buses:
    • 208 - to the city centre (bus stop "Dworzec Główny Wschód"), to the conference venue (bus stop "Chopina").
    • 902 (night bus) - to the city centre (bus stop "Uniwersytet Jagielloński").
    • The Agglomeration Zone ticket (regular fare 4.00 PLN ≈ 1 €) is required for trip from/to the airport.
    • Public bus online route planner.
    • Tickets can be purchased from:
      • the ticket machine at the passenger terminal, arrivals hall, level 0,
      • the ticket machine at the bus stop (payment in cash or with credit/debit card),
      • the bus driver, in case of lack or failure of ticket machine (payment in cash - the exact amount of money).
      Note: The ticket must be validated when getting on the bus.

Travel by train

 Krakow is one of Poland's main railroad intersection. Its central station Krakow Glowny is situated in the city centre, close to the Old Town historic district.

Travel by car

There are no vignettes in Poland. Only certain stretches of motorways are paid in a way toll gates, mostly in cash (in PLN, but also € is commonly accepted). Be noted that the credit card are not accepted at some gates.

Motorways toll sections in Poland:

  • A1 Gdansk - Torun (entire section fee - 29.99 PLN)
  • A2 Swiecko (border crossing with Germany) - Konin (entire section fee - 69 PLN)
  • A2 Konin - Strykow (entire section fee - 9.99 PLN)
  • A4 Wroclaw - Gliwice (Sosnica) (entire section fee - 16.20 PLN)
  • A4 Katowice - Krakow (entire section fee - 20 PLN)

All other motorways (not listed above) and all other roads in Poland are free for passenger cars. In case you come by car you may plan your trip with viamichelin.com.

Most of the Krakow city center is a paid parking zone. You must pay for parking from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 8 pm (10:00-20:00) using parking meters. Most of the parking meters accepts only coins, only a small amount of them allows you to use your credit card.

Fees for the successive hours of parking in the zone are:

  • for the first hour - 3.00 PLN
  • for the second hour - 3.50 PLN
  • for the third hour - 4.10 PLN
  • for the fourth and next hours - 3.00 PLN

The minimal fee is 1.00 PLN and it allows to park for 20 minutes.

Visa

Participants from outside of EU may need a visa to travel to Poland. Please check beforehand on the site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs whether this is your case.

This invitation letter will be sent as an email attachment within several days.

Please note this procedure is intended to assist participants who need to obtain a visa or permission to attend the Conference. It is not an official invitation covering fees and other expenses. It does not imply any financial support from the Conference.
